Pentecost Feast

At Providence Church, we mark the redemptive acts of God throughout the year with joyful feasting. During Advent, we remember the promises of a coming Savior. At Easter, we celebrate the resurrection of Christ. And each year, we gather for a Pentecost Feast—a celebration of the Spirit poured out on God’s people.

So, what is Pentecost?

Pentecost marks a major event in God’s unfolding story of salvation. It is the day God poured out His Spirit on “all flesh,” forming His Church as an international people—drawn from every tribe, tongue, and nation. The Spirit is both a gift and a down payment of the inheritance we will fully receive in the New Creation. His presence with us is the power by which we live as God’s people in the world.

The indwelling of the Spirit is nothing less than a present taste of the future promise:

“He will dwell with man, and they will dwell with Him.”

Let Us Keep the Feast

On June 8th, we’ll gather at the beautiful Fork & Plow Lavender Farm to share a meal and rejoice together. We celebrate the ingather of the nations by partaking of culinary delights from all over the world. God himself announced the ingather of the nations be sanctifying their food (Acts 10:9-16). But this feast includes more than food, we’ll also celebrate with dancing!

Yes, dancing. (Even if that makes you raise an eyebrow.)

Because what better way is there to express unbridled joy than to play and dance a jig? We’ll enjoy live music and learn a few traditional dances as a community. It’s not just for kids—though they often understand joy better than we do! This is a small, tangible way for us to celebrate Christ’s victorious ascension and the sending of His Spirit to empower and keep us.

We hope you’ll join us in keeping the feast.
