Fat Souls 2024

Flannery Fright & Fire 2

Humanity has a complex relationship with flame. On one hand, the destructive nature of fire elicits a hardy measure of fear–especially in California. Do a quick Google search for recent news articles containing the word ‘fire’ and you see why. Fire destroys.

On the other hand, the same force that has scorched many forests beautifully toasts a marshmallow. The ability to harness fire’s destructive potential has changed civilizations. Architecture, cuisine, survival itself–all fundamentally altered by the power of flame. Fire is dynamic, dangerous, and comforting all at once. It is no wonder why God himself has often revealed his manifest presence in the form of fire. CS Lewis’ claim that “He is not safe, but He is good” could rightly apply to the consuming nature of fire.

At our final Fat Souls of 2024, we will consider fire in all its dangerous beauty. Join as we enjoy its light, warmth and with your help, Maillard reaction. Along with a beverage to share, bring a dish that has been prepared with fire. Perhaps some grilled chicken wings, burgers, hot dogs or veggies. Maybe a stir fry using a gas range or crème brulée kissed with a torch. Grilled, smoked, flambéed, or otherwise–if it involves a flame, it is welcome!

Please note the location change for our final gathering at 7pm on Friday, July 26th: 41025 Los Ranchos Circle, Temecula, CA. The whole family is invited to join us!
